The manufacturing base for Acorn Stairlifts is in the UK in Keighley Yorkshire. Proudly British owned and operated Acorn are Global business with Great British roots. Manufacturing, Installations and After Sales Service for Acorn Stairlifts are all managed from Head Office in Yorkshire.

For new Acorn stairlift installations the Warranty is provided by the manufacturer. There are circumstances where we can install nearly new or rental models and we have our own engineers as well as working with regional suppliers to provide the best combination of Service, Price and aftersales back up.

The standard warranty on all new Acorn Stairlifts is 12 months from the day of installation. This covers parts, labour and call out. Extended warranties are available up to an additional 4 years.

When Acorn installs your stairlift you will be provided with an operating manual and all the contact details necessary should you require aftersales contact.

Acorn Stairlifts are designed so that the track fixes to the stairs and not the wall. Acorn stairlifts can be fitted to properties with wooden stairs, concrete stairs and metal stairs - subject to survey.

When not in use all acorn Stairlifts can be folded out of the way to keep the stairs unobstructed and accessible for people who need to use the stairs. The seat, the armrests and the footplate fold up out of the way.

Acorn stairlifts are manufactured in the UK in line with UK and international quality and safety standards. Many of the features of the AcornStairlift UK range are designed with comfort, functionality and safety in mind. Acorn Stairlifts are provided with 2 remote controls as well as toggle controls on both armrests. Manual and powered swivel seats are available.

In line with British and International Safety Standards all acorn lifts come with many failsafe features. Inertia seat belt, Safety sensors on the carriage and footplate. Automatic stop and audible alarms help make sure the Acorn Stair Lift is always parked in a safe position.

Non standard features are available for Acorn Straight and Acorn Curved Chairlifts. Dependent on the needs of the individual customer, the options can be considered during the survey process. Options include seat post height for taller and shorter customers, Powered swivel to assist transfer, Powered hinge where there may be a doorway very close to the bottom of the stairs.

It's unlikely that your existing Acorn stairlift will fit perfectly into your new home; however, if it's a straight stairlift, it can be possible to take the stairlift with you and install a new track at the new property.

Curved stairlifts are bespoke and made to measure, so unfortunately, they can't be fitted elsewhere.

Straight stairlifts are cheaper.  A curved stairlift costs significantly more because they are bespoke.  The cost of a curved stairlift is typically between £3400 and £5000.

All Acorn Stairlifts have safety features included to ensure your safety and are made to comply with British and European Safety Standards.

Safety features for Acorn Stairlifts include safety sensors, a lockable swivel seat, smooth travel, and a seatbelt.

An Acorn Stairlift travels at a maximum rated speed of 0.15 metres per second, which is equivalent to 0.34 mph. This slow and steady speed ensures a safe, comfortable ride for users.

An Acorn stairlift can be designed to turn corners. The Acorn 180 is a curved stairlift designed specifically for stairs that have landings or curves and bends to negotiate.  A curved Acorn stairlift is customised to fit your curved staircase perfectly.

The Acorn 130 straight stairlift needs your stairs to be a minimum of 26 inches wide. The Acorn 180 curved stairlift needs the stairs need to be 27.5 inches wide.

The running costs for an Acorn stairlift are very low. They use minimal electricity—roughly the same as a small household appliance. Other running costs include regular servicing which is typically carried out once a year.

To ensure the safety and smooth running of your Acorn Stairlift it is recommended that it is serviced every 12 months by a qualified technician. The annual service involves a thorough inspections of all components of the stairlift.

Installation of an Acorn stairlift typically takes 2 hours for a straight stairlift. A more complex installation or the installation of a curved stairlift takes around 4 to 5 hours due to the requirement for custom made rails. The total installation time of your new Acorn Stairlift includes pre-installation work and set-up, and also thorough testing of the stairlift once installation is complete. Before leaving, the engineer will demonstrate the operation of the stairlift to you and answer any questions you may have.

Acorn Stairlifts do have maximum weight limits and it is crucial that these strictly adhered to for safety reasons and also to protect the your Acorn Stairlifts' longevity.

For a standard straight stairlift such as the Acorn 130 Stairlift the maximum user weight is 127kg (280 lbs, or 25 stone).

For a curved stairlift such as the Acorn 180 Stairlift the maximum user weight is 120kg (265 lbs).

Acorn Stairlifts also have heavy duty stairlifts available which can support maximum user weights up to 159kg (350 lbs)

The lead time for installation of a new Acorn stairlift is generally 7 days from the date of the stairlift survey however in urgent situations a rapid installation can be arranged as soon as the next day.
