Mobility Equipment Hire FAQs

We hire Manual Wheelchairs, both Transit and Self Propel, Mobility Scooters and High Seat Chairs.

We rent out wheelchairs for short term hire. Many people find a wheelchair useful for taking on holiday or following an operation or accident, where mobility is limited for a short period of time.  Our most popular wheelchair for hire are transit wheelchairs, which are wheelchairs pushed along by an attendant.  Transit wheelchairs are also convenient to lift and fold.

The cost of hiring a wheelchair is approximately £20 per week. In addition to this a £50 cash deposit is taken on collection of the hire wheelchair. This is fully refundable on safe return of the undamaged wheelchair.

There is a minimum charge of £20 to hire our wheelchairs. This is equal the cost of a week's wheelchair rental. We also ask for a £50 cash deposit which is taken on collection of the hire wheelchair.  This is fully refundable on safe return of the undamaged wheelchair.

Sometimes people need a wheelchair for holidays or following operations or accidents. Other times someone might hire a wheelchair before buying one.

Hiring a wheelchair allows a customer to recognise the benefits of using a wheelchair before buying one. For long-term and multiple use, it is generally cheaper to buy a wheelchair than hire one.

We provide a rental service for straight stairlifts. Most of our rental lifts are installed around Walsall Wolverhampton and Cannock, where we have our shops.
We can advise on the rental of curved stairlifts though we do not offer that service directly.

There is a 3-month minimum hire period for straight stairlifts. We build this into the initial cost which covers installation, removal and 3 months rental. After that, we work month by month taking a month's notice at any time.

There is an initial cost of £480 when you hire a straight stairlift with a standard configuration. This covers the cost of installation, removal and the first 3 months rent. Non-standard options are charged extra and subject to stock availability. Call us for more information.

We offer a hire service for transportable scooters that can be taken to pieces easily for transport in the boot of a car. Portable Mobility Scooters can also be carried on aeroplanes if you notify your airline. We take reservations to rent a scooter subject to availability.

Our scooter hire costs £45 per week to hire.  A cash deposit of £100 is payable which is refunded on the safe return of the equipment.

The minimum charge for Mobility Scooter Hire is equal to 1 week rental, £45.

We offer a hire service for High Seat Chairs. These can be useful following hip surgery. The height of the chair can be adjusted to suit the individual, which is very important to achieve a flat lap following surgery.

The minimum charge for High Seat Chair Hire is equal to 1 week rental, £20.

We don’t offer a rental service for rise and recline chairs. We sometimes have ex-showroom stock to sell at reduced prices – subject to availability.

A transport chair has small castor wheels at the front and back and is useful for indoor smooth surfaces only. We do not recommend the use of a transport chair for outdoor use.

We inspect, clean and make any adjustments necessary once rental wheelchairs are returned back into stock, ready for the next hire period.

Our wheelchairs are made to the appropriate British Standard and we have supplied wheelchairs to the NHS WHeelchair Service in the past.
