“The lady in the shop is so friendly, helpful and knowledgeable, she really helped me understand the options for my Mom who is 84 and has mobility issues. Neither of my folks wanted to go to a “mobility shop” because they felt they would be pushed into buying something. Nothing could be further from the truth. The lady at the shop has a lovely gentle helpful manner which completely put my parents at ease. She talked them through the options and then very patiently explained how the chairs worked (i.e. how to put it up, collapse it down, use the brakes etc). My Mom and Dad enjoyed the experience so much that they went back there to buy the wheelchair they wanted. They were very thrilled with the outcome and I can’t thank the lady at the shop enough (if you’re reading this :-)) for turning quite a stressful conversation into a happy situation. “I happened (by chance) upon Essington’s shop in Hednesford high street while I was trying to get my mom used to a mobility scooter that had been sitting in her garage for a number of years. I was a little concerned that the scooter may have had a few hidden issues that could be hindering its current operability, or cause issues in the future. The lovely lady in the shop, Amanda, was very understanding, helpful, and gave me all the information I needed to get in touch with Essington’s workshop in Walsall to discuss a full service.

I called them the same day and spoke to Debbie, who was just as helpful and thoughtful as Amanda, and arranged for the mobility scooter to be picked up the following week. We discussed all costs and options up front and I was given an impartial explanation of the services available. Not once did I feel that I was being ‘sold’ a service, rather, I was being advised on the best course of action suit my mom’s needs.

After several follow-up phone calls detailing the scooter’s condition and the amount of work required, they returned the scooter two days before the predicted date. My mom’s first reaction was, ‘It looks brand new!!’

She now has a big part of her independence restored, as well as her confidence to travel further afield on the scooter. I also have peace of mind that in the event of an unforeseen future issues, my mom can contact Essington for guidance and support.

I returned to the original Hednesford store to thank Amanda and the team (Debbie, Steve, and Andy), and say how happy my mom was with the finished result. I also enquired about the possibility of insurance, what to do in the event of a breakdown, and future maintenance. Unsurprisingly, the level of aftercare was just as impressive and attentive as every other stage of process. This further assuaged any of my concerns.

Overall, the level of communication, transparency, care, and customer service from start to finish was exemplary and unrivalled by anything else I have experienced in recent memory. I cannot recommend Essington and their team enough.”
