We have a range of lightweight, folding transit wheelchairs available to hire which can be lifted and folded to go into the boot of a car.
Self-propelled wheelchairs are also available to hire, however, though the wheels can be removed, these are generally bulkier to transport.
Hiring a wheelchair is affordable and offers flexibility and the cost of renting a wheelchair from Essington Mobility is as little as £20 per week.

When hiring a wheelchair we will ask you a few questions to help us assess your needs and identify the most suitable wheelchair for you. The type of information we require will include why you need a wheelchair, what you need to use the wheelchair for, your height, weight and build.
Sometimes additional wheelchair accessories may be required in order to meet your needs and for your comfort. We will advise on and recommend any accessories that we feel may be of benefit to you. These may include seat cushions, or elevating leg rests for a self-propelled wheelchair. Elevating leg rests are required to accommodate a full leg cast.

A transit wheelchair is a lightweight wheelchair which is designed to be pushed by someone else. Transit wheelchairs are the main type of wheelchairs we hire. They vary in weight and size, and in the features and accessories available. Transit wheelchairs can be lifted and folded to go in the boot of a car.

Self-propelled wheelchairs
A self-propelled wheelchair is a wheelchair that the user propels themselves. We do supply self-propelled wheelchairs for hire but these are generally bulkier to transport even though the wheels can be removed. If you are interested in hiring a self propel wheelchair please contact us.
How do I hire a wheelchair from Essington Mobility?
Renting a wheelchair from Essington Mobility couldn’t be simpler!
Contact one of our mobility shops and speak to our friendly and experienced staff. We will ask a few questions and arrange for an assessment to identify the best wheelchair for you. All wheelchairs are checked, cleaned and serviced before they are sent out for hire. A £50 cash deposit is taken on collection of the hired wheelchair. This is fully refundable on the safe return of the undamaged wheelchair.
